Brewyard Beer Company
906 Western Ave, Glendale, CA 91201
brewyardbeercompany.comNestled in an industrial park just North of the 134, Brewyard is located on what is (kind of) being called The San Fernando Brewing Corridor. Opened by two homebrewers in 2015, they’ve got a 4,500 square foot brewery and are using it to bubble up some tasty like a India Pale Lager, Cali Common, and a Black Lager which means they taste like ales with the crisp, clean profile of a lager. Their taproom is super comfy and interesting with elements of a neighborhood Belgian pub, board games, and a (fully functional) 1930’s vintage pickup truck. Their building is a little tough to find, but it’s worth the hunt.
A favorite: Tropico Saison with passion fruit.
-
Golden Road Brewing
5410 W San Fernando Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90039
goldenroad.laOwned by Anheuser-Busch Inbev, this is easily the largest brewery in Los Angeles. Golden Road Brewing focuses on canned beer, good food, and lawn games. Tons of seasonal IPAs along with their year-round specialties make this place totally drinkable all the time. Also, love it or hate it, kids are welcome and if you go before 6pm, it’s usually populated with as many people under the age of 6 as there are over the age of 21. Check out their other locations in Orange County and Grand Central Market in Downtown LA.
A favorite: Wolf Pup Session IPA – a sessionable IPA that’s the younger sibling of their Wolf Among Weeds.
-
Lincoln Beer Company
3083 N Lima St, Burbank, CA
lincolnbeercompany.comYoung couple opens craft brewery in Los Angeles inside castle-style building and dedicates business philosophy to Abraham Lincoln. This is the story of modern beer. Brewer and Co-Owner, Patrick Dunn, began as an avid beer lover and home brewer who exited the film industry to follow his passion and open Lincoln Beer Company making IPAs (filtered and hazy), pale ales and other specialties (like their habanero vanilla red). They’re family owned and operated and has been self-distributing since late 2016 with a taproom that opened in the Fall of 2017.
-
Trustworthy Brewing Co.
156 W Verdugo Ave, Burbank, CA 91502
trustworthybrewingco.comOpened in 2017, this brewery (formerly known as Verdugo West) should be on your list of industrial-chic taprooms in Los Angeles. They’re whipping up staples, seasonals and a variety of one-offs that utilize ingredients from the neighboring juicery (same owners) like the Ginger Wax Wing – a crisp blonde ale that zips with fresh ginger. For food, they have pizza delivered from a neighboring pizza spot (also same owners).

101 Cider House
1700 Naud Street, Los Angeles, Los Angeles
101cider.comOur ciders contain zero residual sugar, no carbs, no preservatives, and are only 125 calories per serving. We use a natural cider making process that encourages native yeast and probiotic bacteria to ferment our beverages, which leaves us with an alcoholic beverage full of live cultures. On average, we have around 6 billion colony forming units of lactic acid bacteria, more than most commercially-available kombuchas. Our ciders are also made with 100% fresh-pressed juice, real fruits, and locally grown herbs – we like to keep our ingredient lists simple and pronounceable, so you know you’re always getting the real deal!
-
Angel City Brewery
216 S Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90012
angelcitybrewery.comOwned by Boston Beer Company, Angel City started as a homebrew operation in Torrance, grew into a production brewery at the Alpine Village, then moved their brewhouse to a 100-year-old building in the Arts District. Now, they’re making IPAs and other brews in Downtown LA.
A favorite: White Nite – A “golden stout” that looks like a golden and tastes like a stout, like a beer magic trick.
-
Angeleno Wine Company
1646 N Spring St, Los Angeles, CA 90012
angelenowine.comWith a focus on unique varietals, Angeleno Wine Co aims to push the boundaries of what Southern California wine growing can be. Our pride and joy is a small vineyard about an hour north of Los Angeles outside a little town called Agua Dulce. It is farmed by Juan Alonso, a visionary who planted an array of lesser known Spanish grape varietals from his native Galicia.
-
Arts District Brewery
828 Traction Ave, Los Angeles, California 90013
artsdistrictbrewing.comHoused in the old “Crazy Gideon’s” building right smack in the middle of the Arts District, this brewpub has it all. Skeeball, cornhole, food by Fritzi, darts, beers, liquor, and a covered patio. Brewmaster Devon Randall (formerly of Pizza Port) whips up beers of every style with collaborations of all types like a beer made with Gin botanicals from a neighboring distillery, The Spirit Guild.
A favorite: Kablamo Rye IPA – a rye bitter bomb that’s super aromatic, super dry and super delicious.
-
Boomtown Brewery
700 Jackson St, Los Angeles, CA 90012
boomtownbrew.comBoomtown Brewery, another Arts District hotspot, boasts a broad selection of beers from Head Brewer, Samuel “Chewy” Chawinga. The taproom at Boomtown, a short walk from Arts District Brewing and Angel City, hosts regular DJ’s, rotating food options, and a lively scene with games and style.
Taproom includes: art, foosball, lively bartenders, Dodger games streaming on a projector, pool, ping pong, shuffle board, darts and a David Bowie mural.
-
Craftsman Brewing Co.
1260 Lincoln Ave, Pasadena, CA 91103
craftsmanbrewing.comIf you want to visit their taproom, you’ll have to go to Lucky Baldwin’s in Pasadena or a handful of other local bars because Craftsman does not allow people inside. They’re basically the Willy Wonka of LA beer. Very small operation that’s been open since the mid-90’s cranking out solid beers and experimental stuff alike.
A favorite: 1903 Lager – it’s a pre-prohibiton era lager that is slightly richer than your usual lager and way more flavorful.
-
Eagle Rock Brewery
3056 Roswell St, Los Angeles, CA 90065
eaglerockbrewery.comThe oldest brewery in Los Angeles, even though they were only formed in 2009, Eagle Rock Brewery excels on two extremes: session and sour. While their taproom is technically in Glassel Park they do have a full restaurant in neighboring Eagle Rock (check out the Eagle Rock Public House). And even though they’re the old guys on the block, they consistently win medals for their beer, they continue to innovate with beer styles and they are shining examples of what it means to be a member of the Los Angeles beer community.
A favorite: Tarte Noir – their light-bodied dark sour ale.
-
Frogtown Brewery
2931 Gilroy St, Los Angeles, CA 90039
frogtownbrewery.comWhat started off as a homebrew shop has now turned into a brewery and tasting room which is a common theme in the story of craft beer in America (Sierra Nevada and Ballast Point both started as homebrew shops). It’s currently the only brewery in the Frogtown area and if you’re one of the people who doesn’t know where Frogtown is (which is most people), it’s just across the 5 freeway from Dodger Stadium adjacent to the LA River, which is how it got its name (because of all the frogs that used to live in the LA River).
-
Highland Park Brewery
5127 York Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90042
hpb.laYou may not even know it when you’re at Highland Park Brewery because the brewery is tucked into the back of The Hermosillo, a little beer & wine bar in Highland Park. The thing you can’t miss is how incredible and inventive their beer is. Bob Kunz runs the brewery and crafts a wide assortment of styles all of which should be sampled.
A favorite: Whatever’s super fresh or wonderfully aged.
-
Homebound Beer Company
800 N Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90012
https://www.homeboundbrewhaus.com/Located inside of Union Station, Homebound Brew Haus is easily one of the prettiest breweries in all of Los Angeles. All of the historic, original decor has been painstakingly restored so that we, the drinking public of Los Angeles, can drink in a style that is befitting of a 1920’s railroad tycoon. The entire operation is owned and managed by the same team that runs Arts District brewery, so expect the same wide-ranging taplist, cocktails, and food as well.
-
Mumford Brewing
416 Boyd St, Los Angeles, CA 90013
mumfordbrewing.comLocals call this part of Downtown LA “Skid Rowkyo” because of the proximity to Skid Row and Little Tokyo, but Mumford calls it “Home”. Opened in 2015, Mumford Brewing was opened by brothers Todd and Peter Mumford (no relation to the band). Brewmaster Peter Mumford keeps the taproom loaded with styles of every kind – Belgian Witbiers, Belgian Dubels, Northeastern IPAs, West Coast IPAs, Milk Stouts, etc… And when you’re there, we recommend ordering pizza from neighboring Baldoria (our favorite is the Sweet Mary, a pie with strawberries and bacon on it).
A favorite: The Love – a Milk Stout that they often have on nitro and sometimes they have with coffee added.
-
Ohana Brewing
7 South 1st Street, Alhambra, CA 91801
ohanabrew.comThey opened their taproom and within 3 days they won silver in the World Beer Cup for their Belgian and French-Style Ale – Ohana Saison Noir. It’s not that easy, but Andrew Luthi opened this brewery when he was 26 years old and makes it look that easy. They brew in Downtown LA but have a simple tasting room in Alhambra.
A favorite: Saison Noir – come on, it’s delicious and a medal-winner.

Sage Vegan Bistro & Brewery
1700 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
sageveganbistro.comSage Vegan Bistro & Brewery is a plant based bistro that opened in 2012 and expanded to include four locations including Echo Park’s first brewery in 2017. Women owned and brewed, our brewery focuses on sourcing local ingredients to create adventurous, crave-worthy beers. Working with our sixteen acre organic farm and with one of the only hop yards in Los Angeles county, Sage believes you can be good to the earth while drinking a fresh, fun, local brews!

Stone Brewing Co.
220 S Raymond Ave, Pasadena, CA
stonebrewing.com/visit/outposts/pasadenaThey don’t brew in Pasadena. Stone Brewing Co. is headquartered in Escondido, and they brew in San Diego, Richmond VA, and in Berlin, Germany. But, Stone’s small Pasadena hideout pours all of their beer and does growler fills, bottle sales, merchandise & keg rentals. And don’t write this spot off just as a grab-and-go store, the staff at this location is one of the most knowledgeable and dedicated teams in all of LA. So grab a pint or a flight of generously sized tasters and settle in for a minute in their small outside patio and maybe consider ordering some pizza from The Luggage Room next door. And then consider getting another beer.

Ambitious Ales
4019 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach, CA 90807
ambitiousales.comFive talented guys – Juan Carrillo, Garrett Carroll, Jon Cuthbert, Jerome De Leon, and Danny Karpinski – combined their collective brewing, design, construction and branding talents to create Ambitious Ales in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach. Look for a wide range of steadily rotating interesting beers that could possibly include everything from an elegant strawberry saison to more a impactful coconut stout. Come with a dog, come with a friend, or come and order pizza from next door. I recommend doing all three: dog-friend-pizza.
-
Ballast Point Long Beach
110 N Marina Dr, Long Beach, CA 90803
ballastpoint.com/locationsYou know it, you love it, and although this brewery is owned by Constellation Brands (See: Corona), they’re still consistently cranking out delicious and experimental beers. They have locations all over Southern California with four in San Diego, one in Temecula and they opened this Long Beach outpost in the Summer of 2016. Situated in the Alamitos Bay Marina, this gargantuan craft beer hotspot has a main bar, an outside bar, and a rooftop bar, so head to one of them and settle in for a while because in addition to their food they have over 30 of their beers on tap.
-
Beachwood BBQ & Brewing
210 E 3rd St, Long Beach, CA 90802
beachwoodbbq.comBeachwood BBQ & Brewing won the “Brewpub of the Year” award from the Great American Beer Fest. And they won “Best Large Brewpub” in the world at the World Beer Fest. And they have barbecue. And they have one of the best guest taplists in LA. Their beers are made by brewmaster Julian Shrago who can bend hops with the best of them (if he’s not the best of them himself), so when you’re visiting try ALL of their IPA’s not just one or two. And if you’re looking for dessert, head next door to their sour sister – Beachwood Blendery.
A favorite: Amalgamator – an incredible West Coast IPA that smacks of passionfruit and dank resin on the nose but is dry and light on the body.
-
Beachwood Blendery
247 Long Beach Boulevard, Long Beach, CA
beachwoodbbq.com/blendery.htmlAfter dominating the world of hoppy beers at their main brewery location, Beachwood Blendery opened up to innovate (and presumably dominate) the world of sour beers. After starting slow in 2015, the Blendery released its first lambic-style beer in 2016 which set the bar for the rest of their sour beers to come in terms of complexity and deliciousness. The Long Beach Blvd. taproom is cozy with an educated and caring staff who serves a frequently rotating selection of sour and funky beers. Bottles are available to-go, but definitely stick around to taste something there, because many of their offerings are draft only. If you get hungry, Beachwood’s flagship BBQ & Brewery location is about 50 yards away.
A favorite: Any of their lambic-inspired beers.

Belmont Brewing
Belmont Brewing Co, 39th Place, Long Beach
belmontbrewing.comThis beachside beer haven opened 1990 and is now the oldest brew pub in Los Angeles County. Their Brewmaster, David Blackwell, brews all manner of lagers and ales on his seven barrel system: “Clean Blondes, Hoppy Pales and IPAs, Balanced Ambers, Big Stouts, Fruity Weizens and Spicy Belgians”. Their food menu also spans an impressive spectrum ranging from soups and salads to shrimp enchiladas to garlic chicken pasta to a Mediterranean Burger (Fig-dijon mustard, bacon, goat cheese, arugula, tomato & onion on a brioche bun).

brouwerijwest.comBrouwerij West started off as well known gypsy brewers, but in 2015, the team finally moved into a gorgeous space in San Pedro at the Ports o’ Call to brew and serve all of their funky Belgian-ish beers. Think Spelt Saisons or 100% Brett Beers with Rangpur Limes enjoyed at a picnic table with your dog and husband at your side. It’s a big space, normally with food trucks, so bring the kids and plan to soak up some sun on their outdoor patio. Long Beach Beer Lab

lbbeer.comLong Beach Beer Lab is just that – a laboratory for the “science surrounding suds”. Located in the Wrigley neighborhood of Long Beach, just east of the 710 on Willow Street, this combination brewery and bakery makes quality ales, sour beers, barrel-aged beers, tonics and sourdough bread onsite. Brewmaster and Chief Scientist Dr. Levi Fried left his work at a medical research lab to run the beer side of things. The bakery is helmed by Harmony Sage, a classically trained French Pastry Chef (she’s also Levi’s wife).

Ten Mile Brewing Company
1136 E Willow St, Signal Hill, CA 90755
tenmilebrewing.comA little bit of everything is being brewed down in Signal Hill (a city on the North side of Long beach). Ten Mile Brewing Company is doing German styles, English styles, Belgian styles, Mexican styles and ye’ olde American styles like the Kentucky Common (one of the only beer styles indigenous to the USA). The brew team consists of a father and son duo, Dan Sundstrom and Jesse Sundstrom, the brewery is named for a part of the Sierra Nevadas where this family owned brewery owns a cabin (not for the length of Long Beach, which is actually only 5.2 miles, and they’re not in Long Beach anyway, they’re in nearby Signal Hill. Get your facts straight).

14cannons.comConstructed in 2017, 14 Cannons is a production brewery and showroom. Their Westlake Village location showcases the beer industry’s leading vendors while also producing beer by award-winning brewer Nic Bortolin. Marshall Haraden is the builder and owner and the name 14 Cannons is a tribute to his great, great, great, great uncle, Jonathan Haraden who captained the American war ship Tyrannicide in 1777 (a ship which had, you guessed it, 14 cannons). The showroom is a working operational teaching facility for brewers and novices alike.

Common Space
3411 W El Segundo Blvd, Hawthorne, CA 90250
commonspace.laCommon Space is a big mixture of a lot of interesting things: they’ve set up their shop in a WWII-era building that has 24,000 square feet, their brewmaster is from Speakeasy Ales & Lagers in the Bay Area, they have a 1,000 square foot patio, they’re spitting distance from SpaceX, and they’re walking distance from LA Aleworks. They make ales, they make lagers, they make IPAs (of course), and they make brewmaster experiments on their pilot system – like a cocktail-inspired Negroni Saison. Check out their rotating list of food trucks and events here.

El Segundo Brewing
140 Main St, El Segundo, CA 90245
elsegundobrewing.comHops, Hops and more Hops. Our tally has them at: a bunch of hoppy pale ales, at least four IPAs, a slew of Double IPAs and one terrifyingly drinkable Triple IPA. They have a taproom in El Segundo where you can find their beer and you can find their brew around town in bottles as well (and it’s guaranteed to be fresh).
A favorite: Mayberry – a golden IPA that showcases what the boys at El Segundo can do with hops.
